Ik kwam gisteren in de Android Market een paar erg interessante applicaties tegen. Sterker nog, het aanbod is explosief gestegen de laatste maanden! De apps gebruik ik als aftrap voor dit topic waarin het de bedoeling is Android applicaties onder de aandacht te brengen die relevant kunnen zijn voor onze hobby.

Paar flauwe regeltjes:
- Hou inhoudelijke discussies over de applicaties binnen de perken;
- Post alleen Android applicaties;
- Geen Apple-Android flamewars!!;
- Probeer als je een app post wel wat korte info mee te geven, niet alleen het linkje.

Galaxy Zoo
Perform astronomy on your Android phone! Galaxy Zoo uses gorgeous imagery of hundreds of thousands of galaxies drawn from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope archive. To understand how these galaxies, and our own, formed we need your help to classify them according to their shapes — a task at which your brain is better than even the most advanced computer.This app needs an internet connection every so often but is designed to work offline by saving galaxy photos to the SD card. When online and logged into Galaxy Zoo with the app, your answers are uploaded to the main system (periodically).
The app can also be used in practice mode. It's a good idea to start this way because classifying can be challenging. The photos that produced the images in this app were obtained from telescopes (i.e. Hubble) at or near their maximum power. While sometimes small and difficult to discern, these are the best images we have of these incredibly distant galaxies.

allemaal wel leuk en aardig, maar helaas heb ik geen android phone, ik heb namelijk samsung star s5230 met het besturingssysteem beba (het besturingssysteem van samsung)

Ik heb SkEye op mijn HTC wildfire gezet. Ziet er geweldig uit. Moet ook goed werken, maar helaas slaat het kompas van mijn telefoon op hol zodra ik in de buurt van mijn telescoop kom.
Werkt dus alleen voor telescopen die niet van metaal zijn.

FOViewer (Gratis / donatie)

FOViewer is a handy tool for every stargazer. It allows you to calculate things like the magnification of your particular telescope and eyepiece combination. FOViewer will also show your field of view superimposed on astrophotos of well-known objects. That way you can get a good prediction of which eyepieces to use to optimally view your celestial targets. You can add your own equipment to FOViewer to get spot-on predictions for your telescope / eyepiece combinations. If a particular telescope / eyepiece combination results in a magnification that goes beyond the maximum useful magnification of your telescope, then FOViewer will notify you by giving the magnification a red background and showing an alert.
Apart from the magnification, the field of view and the F ratio of your telescope, FOViewer will show you the local time, your GPS coordinates and a compass to help you get that GOTO telescope properly aligned!
